The series of successfully V-CES dissemination events is ongoing

The next workshops are to take place End of June in Milan and London.

The V-CES project consortium has successfully conducted a series of dissemination workshops and seminars during the last months.

The events provided an overview of the V-CES project, followed by an introduction to Cost Estimating and its major methods: Detailed, Parametric and Analogy and its application to different industry sectors.

How to enhance cost estimating practices and the collaboration between the different actors in the domain of cost estimation has been discussed with the audience, and it has been shown how this can be achieved with the support of the online services provided by the V-CES portal.

Attendeess learned about a set of Virtual (Web based) Cost Engineering Services aiming to enhance cost practices and collaboration between OEMs and suppliers: e-practices, e-training and e-communitties, IT web based tools. Which they may want to compare with thier current practices, and probably take some interesting ideas back to their office and think about putting them into practice.

The events provided a forum to discuss the challenges that manufacturing OEMs and SMEs face when collaborating with each other when product cost has to be agreed: cultural issues, work practices, IT support and collaborative environments, training.

The positive feedback from the participants was underpinning the value of the V-CES services for the companies and the individual cost estimator.
